A bottling run is where bulk spirit becomes sellable product — and where excise is triggered. Run it methodically.
Before
- Confirm source spirit volume and ABV
- Calculate dilution water to hit target bottling strength
- Check you have enough packaging stock (bottles, caps, labels)
- Assign a lot number
During
- Record spirit used and actual bottling ABV
- Count bottles filled and rejected
- Apply labels and closures
After
- Bottled volume becomes finished goods (see finished goods & dispatch)
- LAL bottled and excise are calculated; remission applied
- Packaging stock is depleted per the product's bill of materials
Why a checklist
Bottling touches inventory, compliance and quality at once. A repeatable process prevents shortfalls and errors. CaskPilot automates the excise, stock depletion and finished-goods steps in one action.
